The story behind this iconic Milanese shopping center is long and dates back to 1865, when the Bocconi brothers decided to import in Italy the style of Le Bon Marché, the first shopping center in the world founded in France in 1852. La Rinascente has something like ten floors and it is easy to get lost in the myriad of products on display. We advise you to take an escalator after the other and visit all the rooms, starting from the basement where interior design lovers will shiver with excitement, to the last one with the wonderful café where you can eat a slice of cake while glancing at Piazza del Duomo. And, if your fringe requires a trim or your gel has dried out, pop by the stand of the hair salon Aldo Coppola!
A couple of info: the name of La Rinascente was chosen by the poet D’Annunzio in 1917 and, between 1944 and 1951, the seat of this luxury-mall moved to Piazza Mercanti, following the bombing of the Second World War that destroyed the original palace.
